Riding the Army Depot Train at Camp Navajo

Grammy and the grandkids

My parents had an activity out at the army depot in Flag which involved a train.  That's all that needed to be said for us to be all in!  Lewis worships trains and was thrilled to be able to go ride on the front of one.
It was a fun activity with a cookout, lots of yummy food, a huge play area and finally the train.  "Plablow" drove the train for us.  (That's Pablo for you non-3-year-old speakers)

Remnants of the money we smashed
First we put a bunch of money down to get smashed flat then we all got on the train and rode it up the track and then backed down the track for the return trip.  Lewis requested a 2nd trip and...wish granted!  He was sooooooo happy!!!  It was the best day ever!

Grammy's Birthday & Gift

Blow those candles out!
My mom had a milestone birthday this year. (check the cake if you want to know the number.)  We happened to go up to Flag to visit the weekend before so we had Aleksia and her Aunt Bre make her a cake on the sly.  We surprised her with it that night.  She loved the cake and the surprise.  We were happy to be able to share it with  her.

She and my dad went to Vegas the next day to celebrate.  They saw Donny and Marie live at the Flamingo and  LE RÊVE, at Wynn Las Vegas, which "offers breathtaking performances in an intimate aqua theater-in-the-round. The show features aerial acrobatics, provocative choreography and artistic athleticism.  The cast of 85 captures the imagination with their outrageous antics and daring feats of strength and agility. Live music and elaborate special effects immerse the audience into a world of fantasy, adventure and intrigue."  She and my dad had a fantastic time and had a great time celebrating her birthday.

Since we did her birthday a little early, our gift wasn't ready yet.  This past weekend we got to give it to her.  She loves it!  Yippee...its always nice to give a gift they really like.   Here it is installed on the wall in their front entry.

Excessive Heat

Here we are starting week 3 of school and this is what the kids have to look forward to...no outside play time for them! UGH!!!

AP---A hot, humid sweaty start of the week is ahead. The National Weather Service said temperatures will combine with high humidity to create oppressive conditions across the Sonoran desert. The Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning from 10 a.m. Monday to 8 p.m. The affected area includes south-central Arizona, which includes the metro Phoenix area. Temperatures are expected to hit 110 Monday. Forecasters suggested completing any necessary outdoor activity in the early morning when the sun and heat are less intense.

Griffin's explanations

The last time Griffin came to church in my parents ward he introduced himself as Griffin with 2 "effins" in his name.

We were at Auntie Paula's and the kids were watching a movie which Griff came up to tell Paula was not a good show (Fantastic 4) because it had bad words that Lewis might repeat because he didn't know better.  He explained the bad words to Paula like this

"Auntie Paula, the show said  Oh My.... you know the Oh my...bad word?  you know, Oh My DOG spelled backwards? Dog spelled backwards is a bad word.   Also, you know how Helen has a swear word in her name?  they said that one too!"

He is killing me!

What's up?

Howdy everyone!  No, I'm still here we just have had a computer that was on the fritz and it's "fixed" to Brad's satisfaction but it still doesn't have my fonts, my email addresses, my photoshop, and a bunch of other VITAL things I need to feel the computer is really "fixed."  So, we are working on it and I will have many, many things to share soon (I hope).  We are almost 5 weeks into our summer vacation which means it's half over.  Next week I go to girls camp and then we will have the annual Lake Powell-Idaho-Utah-4 week vacation so I gotta get to posting before I have all of that to add as well!  Here's to hoping!

Our least favorite season--Hell--is about to arrive.  Summer is over... but at least we don't have to keep the pool cover on anymore and the water stays at least 87 degrees!!

Teacher Appreciation Week

This year for teacher appreciation week the PTO gave us a theme for each day of the week. Monday was fruit day, Tuesday was marker/dry erase day, Wednesday was flower day, Thursday was thank you note day and Friday was a potluck for the teachers.

I thought it was nice to have the theme's! So we took oranges, sharpies, flower pens, hostess cupcakes for the potluck (Mrs. Becker's favorites!) and these lovelies were our thank-you notes. The kids wrote their notes on the back. The kids really liked them and so did their teachers! So here they are with their letters.
